Sourcing
All specimens used in my work are obtained legally and responsibly from a variety of different sources.
The Vertebrates and mammals I use are all from natural deaths or from complications where humane euthanasia has been necessary (e.g. from injury). These have either been donated to me from UK breeders, collected as a result of RTA's (road traffic accidents) or natural finds I come across on nature walks. I process these myself using different techniques such as mummification, controlled burial or by masceration. Most bones will be whitened with peroxide unless stated as having natural staining.
Invertebrates (insects and butterflies) are also collected following natural death if a UK native species. For exotic and non-native species I work with a small group of sustainable insect breeding programs who support conservation initiatives.
I do not work with any endangered species, or thse which are cites/protected. The only exception to this is where personel pets have been provided by the customer for commission pieces.
As the specimens I use are natural they may show signs of every day wear and tear and will rarely be in perfect condition e.g. worn wings from flight use, small nicks or missing antennae. Any tears will either be repaired by myself or listed in the description.
